These workshops are suitable for children aged between 6 and 10 years old who participate in ANY sport or physical activities and wish to improve their athleticism and performance, or for children who would like to participate in ANY sport or physical activity in the near future.

(NB: If you can only attend ONE of these dates but not the other, there will be a 3rd session on Sunday 22nd September open to all attendees. The first session (from the 8th) will be repeated between 10am and 12pm and the second session (from the 15th) will be repeated between 12pm and 2pm. So hopefully nobody will miss out).

I have a substantial amount of experience working within ‘long term athlete development’ and am proud to have been involved in the development of current international footballers, rugby players, cricketers, Olympians, Ice Hockey players and many more.

During these workshops your children will learn the crucial ‘physical literacy’ skills that they can build upon in the future in order to maximise their athletic ability.

Everything will be delivered in a safe and effective manner, ensuring they understand ‘how’ and ‘why’ certain movements are important.

Handouts will be provided along with fun ‘homework’ drills that they can perform easily at home with no specialist equipment to continue their development.

If you want your child/children to develop crucial athletic skills now so they are better placed to excel further down the line then book your place now or contact me if you have further questions.

Why should you trust me?

That is a good question. The internet is a funny old place, and social media is even stranger still. It doesn’t take much for someone with a big mouth to sell you a dream, take your money and fail to deliver…leaving you frustrated and less likely to part with your hard earned cash.

But that isn’t the case here.

I have been coaching young people between the ages of 4 and 18 years old since 1998…just shy of 20 years. Initially as a keen 6th former, then all throughout University and since 2005 I have worked full time in the fitness industry.

My skill for developing athletes began in 2007 when I was fortunate enough to be granted an Apprenticeship at two professional sports teams, Castleford Tigers Rugby League Football Club and Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

I used to look after the Academy teams with ages ranges from 12-18 years old. Although I do not claim to be responsible for any of the following players professional careers, I have delivered multiple sessions with them as teenagers and will be using the same protocols with these upcoming workshops::

Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire and England cricketers)

Nathan Massey, Oliver Holmes (Castleford Tigers RLFC), Adam Milner (Castleford Tigers and England RLFC), Joe Arundel (Wakefield Trinity Wildcats) and Daryl Clark* (Warrington Wolves RLFC and England RLFC) .

My next move was to Sheffield United FC where I learnt ‘Athlete Development’ from one of the best Academy’s in the country. To this day I still have my copy of ‘The Blades Way’ which was the biblical blueprint used to develop the following professional footballers, all of whom played in Academy sessions under my tutelage during my time there:

Kyle Walker (Manchester City FC and England), Kyle Naughton (Swansea City and England U21s), Matt Lowton (Burnley FC), Harry Maguire (Leicester City FC and England) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton FC and England U21s).

Shortly after working for Sheffield United FC I was taken to China where I was given my first job as a Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. This was swiftly followed by a national call up to work with the Chinese senior national teams throughout their preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. During a two year spell in China I applied all of the skills I had gained so far to my role with great success. Eventually I worked with both Men’s and Women’s senior national teams, as well as U14, U16, U18 and U20s.

Upon returning to the UK I started a working relationship within professional Ice Hockey which lasts to this day. In 2011 I started working with a trio of young teenagers who are all now fully fledged professionals, and have represented Great Britain at all age levels - Lewis Hook (Belfast Giants), Luke Ferrara (Coventry Blaze) and Jordan Cownie (Dundee Stars). I have also spent many years working at Great Britain Development Camps, working with talented youngsters from as young as 10 years old all the way through to senior internationals. During this time I have helped influence dozens of current professional and internationally capped players.

By this stage in my career I was being asked to either assist with the training at professional clubs, or to deliver educational workshops to the staff who work for professional clubs. Thus far I have taught staff who were working at Aston Villa FC, Norwich City FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City FC, Scunthorpe United FC, Millwall FC and Charlton Athletic FC.

Whilst delivering pre-seaon training at Charlton Athletic FC in 2015 I spent the summer working with Joe Gomez ( Liverpool FC and England) and Nick Pope (Burnley FC and England) and between 2002 and 2006 I was heavily involved with the Athletic Development of Glasgow Warriors and Scotland Rugby player, Ali Price.

I could keep name-dropping all day, like the time I worked for Bear Grylls on some fitness products for children or the times I interviewed Paula Radcliffe, Greg Rutherford, Max Whitlock, James Haskell, Kyle Edmund, Louise Hazel, Dina Asher-Smith, Jazz Carlin, Alun Wyn Jones, Anthony Watson and Elise Christie…and asked every single one of them what they did as teenagers to make them stand out and enhance their athleticism.

Anyway, everything I have learnt and observed during the last 19 years will be rolled up into some extremely beneficial sessions for any youngster wanting to get a little bit better at any sport.

They will be in good hands.

Any questions please ask.
